A device printer connects directly to a single device, either via Bluetooth or USB, rather than over the network like a network printer. Because it's tied to one device, pairing happens in the app itself, while configuration is completed in the Portal.
1. Connect the printer to your device
- Connect the printer via Bluetooth (using your Android device's Bluetooth settings) or via USB. This is a standard device-level pairing, the same as pairing any other Bluetooth or USB accessory to an Android device.
- In the NexxPOS app, go to the side menu and select Printers. This lists the printers currently connected to this device.
- Set the printer as default. This tells the app which printer to send print jobs to from this device. The printer is now connected.
2. Configure the device printer in the Portal
Pairing the printer to the device makes it usable, but it still needs to be configured in the Portal so it behaves consistently with the rest of your print setup.
- Go to the NexxPOS Portal and select your store.
- Go to Printer Management > Device Printers.
- Click Assign.
- Enter the printer's details.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Printer Profile | Selected from the printer profiles you've created. This determines what the printer prints, which template it uses, how many copies, and whether it prints automatically. |
| Name | A label to identify the printer in the Portal. |
| Paper Width | The paper stock loaded in this printer, so templates render correctly for it. |
Once configured this way, the device printer follows the same profile and template configuration as network printers, the difference is only in how it physically connects.
