In this article: An overview of how printing works in NexxPOS, and the order to set it up in.
Printer Management is where you control what prints, where it prints, and how. This covers receipts & kitchen build tickets, whether it's coming from a network printer or one connected directly to a device.
How it fits together
Three parts work together to get an order from the til to the right printer:
- Production Zones determine where an item is routed, for example Bar or Kitchen. Zones are set at the product level.
- Printer Profiles determine how a zone's items print, which template is used, how many copies, and whether it prints automatically.
- Printers, either network or device, are assigned a profile so they know what to do when a job comes through.
When an order is placed, items route to their zone, and the printer assigned to that zone's profile prints according to the profile's settings.
Setting up printing
It is recommended to set these up in order, since each step depends on the one before it:
- Create your Production Zones, used to enable item based routing to printers.
- Create a Printer Profile that controls the print configuration of each printer
- Add your printers, network or device, and assign a printer profile.
- Customise Print Templates to control the print output.
